Fred Blau POLAND Flight Covers
1938 (22 July) accident mail, cover (mostly burned, enclosed in cellophane), addressed to Tel Aviv, with 29 July arrival postmarks, carried by LOT, Lockheed L-14H Super Electra Airplane from Warszawa-Cernauti-Bucharest-Athens-Tel Aviv. Shortly after take-off from Cernauti, the plane exploded and crashed near Compulung (Romania), the crew and 10 passengers (among them two American physicians) were killed. It was the most tragic accident of LOT (Fi.139a,10,000Zzl - $2,591)
