AUTOGRAPHS OF FAMOUS PEOPLE
GILBERT, William and SULLIVAN, Arthur. (The Victorian-era theatrical partnership of the dramatist W. S. Gilbert (1836-1911) and the composer Arthur Sullivan (1842-1900). The two men collaborated on 14 comic operas between 1871 and 1896, of which H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado are among the best known). A selection of relevant letters including an 1872 ALS from Gilbert, 1883 4-page letter, also signed carte de visit (1880) and printed lithographed 6x9 portrait with facsimile signature from Sullivan, additional ALS by Sir Edward German (completed "Ivanhoe"), Sabine Baring-Gould ("Onward Christian Soldiers"), George Grossmith (actor), Richard D'Oyly Carte (manager), Sir Bernard ("Cox and Box"), Henry Irving (actor), a wonderful assembly
