MARITIME MAIL IN THE AMERICAS ECUADOR
1875 (25 Feb) FL written on mourning stationery, possibly from Quito, paying the single letter rate to France with 3d rose (plate 15) and three 6d gray (plate 14) tied by oval "C41" cancels, with Guayaquil double arc departure datestamp on back, three line "Panama Transit 28 Feb" datestamp on front, with cover put on the "Elbe" which sailed from Colon on 8th March, with London transit (26 Mar), "PD" in circle applied, indicating postage paid to destination, transit pmk at the Calais exchange office (27 Mar), and Paris arrival the same day, part of the addressee's name obliterated, with filing fold just away from the stamps
