Gaerste and Co." and franked with 25c stamps of Netherlands Antilles (5c and 2x10c), sent via St. Thomas (24 January 1879) to Veracruz on the "Solent", arriving January 28th, minor flaws, otherwise fine Venezuela-Mexico letter, with appropriate transit and arrival pmks, ex-Backal collection. Mexico joined the UPU on 1 June, 1878, after which no charges were applied to properly franked mail from member nations
