| Lot #4600 YEMEN 1900-18 two covers with Ottoman franking, one from Hodeida to Trieste, with smaller town pmk, the other from "Moka", franked on back with 1pi ultramarine, tied by bilingual departure cds, Suez transit and Paris arrival pmks (the espresso coffee drink was named after this city by the Italian engineer inventor Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. At the time Mocha was a famous leading producer and trader of coffee worldwide with a history going back 500 years, and also became known for its unique Yemini wild Mocha coffee beans). Also included are stamps, two on pieces, showing good strikes of "Beit Berich", "Lahie", "Menahe", "Hodeida" and "Hudeida", neatly displayed on two exhibit pages

| Lot #4605 YEMEN 1928 (Mar) registered cover franked with 2 1/2b black and 2 1/2b black on orange, sent by Lt.Colonel Corazzini of the Italian Military Mission in San'a to his wife in Italy, paying internal postage to Italian Eritrea where two adhesives were added to pay for further transmission to Bologna, with Massaua Registry label at bottom, transit and arrival pmks, filing fold away from the stamps, fine and rare cover (a small force of Italian officers was sent to Yemen in the late 1920s as military advisors to help the Imam's troops put down tribal unrest. As a non-UPU country, letters from Yemen to overseas destinations were required to have additional stamps of a UPU country)
