United States Intervention in Nicaragua
1928-32 single frame Exhibit Collection, 16 pages, with 35 covers and cards, showing earliest and latest recorded usages of various pmks provided for the U.S. Marine Corps, sent from HQ Aircraft Squadrons, medical units, Registered mail, including the only recorded example of the 11th Regiment Second Brigade USMC to San Pedro, Calif., covers from HQ Puerto Cabezas, Money Order markings, unrecorded "Rec'd" handstamps, Evacuation of the Marines from Nicaragua 1932-33, with cover the "U.S.S. Henderson" with the last contingent of U.S. Marines leaving the country, etc. A well researched and definitive collection (The United States Intervention/Occupation of Nicaragua from 1912-1933 was part of the "Banana Wars" and was meant primarily to prevent any other nation except the US from building a Nicaraguan Canal. There were of course many other reasons, including internal rebellions, insurgents, bandits, etc. Due to budgetary considerations related to the depression in the US, President Hoover ended the American intervention in 1933)
