"The U.S. Army and its Postal Service Abroad during World War II 1941-45" Exhibit, offered mostly intact (a few items were removed and are offered in this sale), 390+ covers and cards illustrating APO numbers, Military Postal Markings from American Base Forces, BPO markings, RPS markings and Auxiliary markings, Postal Rates for U.S. Troops and Official Mail, APO use by Non-US Army Personnel (including Civilian personnel, Foreign and UN Officials, Red Cross, etc.), APO Incoming Mail, Army Censorship, V-Mail, POW mail, various Offensive Operations in the Western Hemisphere, Europe and Africa, China-Burma-India Theater, South West Pacific Area, Central Pacific Area, etc. The collection begins with an unused Japanese stationery postcard depicting bombing of Pearl Harbor and ends with "Japanese Forces Surrender U.S.S. Missouri Tokyo Bay Sep 2 1945" cover. A spectacular insight into the scope of the heroic operations of U.S. Armed Forces during World War II, basically a 100-volume library/PBS Documentary series presented through a Postal History exhibit, curtesy of Al Kugel

Henderson" and U.S. Navy FPOs, domestic usages, tag for registered mail franked with single $2, strip of 3x$5, other stamps and a meter for $99.99, paying total $117.76 postage. Also included is a previous definitive $1, $2, $5 Liberty on registration tag, plus cover with $2 Capital and pair of 17c Buchannan on registered cover to Canton, China, backstamped San Francisco on December 6, 1941, Honolulu 9 July, 1942 and back to Yakima, Wash. on 3 Aug 1942.
