PALESTINE 1929 Orient Flight drop mail Zeppelin Flights
1929 Orient Flight cover from Friedrichshafen, franked with 2M Eagle, canceled 24 March and addressed to Athens, with 30 March arrival markings on back, two red Orient Flight cachets (unusual), v.f. On the return flight, the airship flew twice over Athens, since due to bad weather, mail could not be dropped the first time. Dropped the second time, a bag containing about 480 letters was found two days later by a shepherd delivering milk to Athens (Si.23c, unpriced)

1929 Orient Flight, picture postcard (Zeppelin in flight) franked with 1M Eagle (surface defect), canceled on board "Luftschiff Graf Zeppelin" 27.3.29, with faint Orientfahrt cachet, drop mail Split, with 27 March arrival postmark, signed Roger Koerber. On the way back to Germany, the airship cruised over Split and a few cards, written on board were dropped (Si.23d, €800)

1929 cover with blue 2m franking, canceled on board, drop mail Vienna, with "Wien 28.III.29" arrival pmk, very rare. The airship passed over Vienna and this letter was privately dropped out of a window by a crew member, It was found in the street in Vienna and placed into a mail box, receiving same day arrival pmk (Si.23g, €1,000)

1929 card addressed to Vienna, with five-line "Im Luftschiff L.Z.127 Graf Zeppelin" (from Munich to Friedrichshafen) cachet, franked with 10pf Eagle, canceled "Wollmetshofen 1 Apr 29", with message on back stating that "the airship coming from Munich flew over our village Wollmetshofen and continued in a westerly direction to Krumbach. It flew very low because of heavy fog. The mailbag was found the next day". This private drop card was tossed out by a crew member Thassler, addressed to Georg Sobetzky. A unique item, with 1987 Sieger certificate (Si.23i, €2,750)
