 | Lot #717 JAPAN Ninoshina POW Camp in Japan 1914-15 collection of 50 covers (some with original letters) or cards from Ninoshina POW Camp in Japan, including incoming mail, different destinations, including Tokyo, Shanghai, Tientsin, Tsingtao, Registered mail, pre-printed "Service des Prisonniers de Guerre" Camp stationery cards, Easter Greetings, Money letters, with Japanese fiscal stamps, rare censor markings, cover from Captain Hass to Mr. Landgraf in Tokyo, responsible for the relief actions for German POWs in Japanese Camps and ultimate transport of prisoners back to Germany, plus many other interesting and seldom offered items, most purchased individually at auction, many ex-Rungas (the Ninoshina Camp, located on a small island across the bay from Hiroshima, opened on 19 February 1917 and was closed on 22nd January 1920. There were 536 German POWs, 9 Austrians and 160 civilian prisoners in this camp, among them the former Governor of Tsingtao, who was transferred from Fukuoka Camp)
