1941-44 selection of 10 covers or cards on exhibit pages, including a cover with "Betasom" Registry label, sent to Genova, another with "Gruppo Sommergibili" (12.8.41) pmk, others with "Forze Subacquee Italiane in Atlantico", "Comando Base B.X", also 1944 censored covers with "Base Atlantica" overprinted 10c,15c,25c,30c and 50c (Sass. €10,350), mixed condition, minor faults noted, fine and seldom offered ("BETASOM" (an Italian language acronym of "Bordeaux Sommergibile or Sommergibili") was a submarine base established at Bordeaux by the "Regia Marina Italiana" during Italian Occupation of France. From this base, Italian submarines participated in the Battle of the Atlantic 1940-43 as part of the Axis anti-shipping campaign against the Allies, sinking 109 allied merchant ships, totaling 601,425 tons, losing 16 boats themselves)
