| Lot #4223 EGYPT Turkish Occupation 1915 picture postcard from Aleppo to El-Arish, franked with 10pa and 20pa Ottoman pictorials, tied by departure and arrival pmks, fine, uncommon usage, signed Nakri. Only a few examples of the bilingual El-Arish pmk have been recorded on cover (one of the first objectives of the Turks was to take El-Arish, the principal town in the Sinai. This was accomplished at the end of October 1914 and El-Arish remained in Ottoman control until early 1916, when the Egyptian Expeditionary Force was able to clear the Sinai Peninsula)
