| Lot #4183 BULGARIA Russo-Turkish War 1877 (29 Dec) cover from London, addressed to an English nursing sister at the Red Cross hospital in "Sistova, Bulgaria, Turkey", endorsed "if departed, please forward to destination", mailed via Bucharest (3 Jan), showing Russian F.P.O.15 (23 Dec 1877) transit (Julian calendar, 12 days earlier than the Gregorian calendar used in the West). This FPO 15 was then located at Zimnica (today Zimnicea, Romania, a port on the Danube, opposite the Bulgarian city of Sistov), used as a forwarding center for mail between Russia and the occupied areas of Northern Bulgaria. A rarity (Tchilingirian states that "no postal material from this FPO appears to have been recorded)
