1902 50c black, Large Die Essay on india, die sunk on card (90x105mm), incomplete engraving of entire design, many lines missing in vignette, frame and portrait, minor small scuffs at upper right, still v.f. This is one of the only two known examples of the 1902 50c progressive die essays (see the following lot for the other recorded copy) (ex-Cheshire collection, Siegel 2004 sale, $3,750 hammer)
