Our November 12-14, 2024 auction features solid selections of United States stamps and proofs (including further material from the Larry Brasler stock), Canada (with a fine example of 12p black), Great Britain & British Commonwealth, Israel, European Countries, with collection of Wayne Demarest's Germany and Colonies, an old-time holding of Zbigniew Cianciara's Poland, Western Ukraine, solid Russia and rest of the world. There is an additional section of Mixed Frankings and Redirected Mail, formed by a European gentleman, with many interesting combination usages. As always, the sale contains 220+ large lots and collections, with individual country albums, worldwide accumulations in cartons, cover lots and much more

 | Lot #470 ITALY Flight Covers 1932 General Umberto Nobile, correspondence from Russia to Maria Nobile (his daughter), selection of eight picture postcards from Moscow to Rome, two registered, mostly with greetings from "Papa" message, fine-v.f. (In 1931, Nobile left Italy to work for the next four years in the Soviet Union, where he helped with the Soviet semi-rigid airship program. Details of the Soviet Airship Program are sparse, but there is an obvious Nobile influence in the design of the airships USSR-V5, and SSSR-V6 OSOAVIAKhIM. He was allowed to return to Italy to teach in December 1936, before going to the United States in 1939 to teach aeronautics at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. When Italy went to war with the United States, he was permitted to remain in the US, but declined the offer of US citizenship and instead returned to Italy in May 1942. After a brief stay in Rome, he moved to Spain, where he remained until Italy surrendered to the Allied forces in September 1943.  | Lot #471 ITALY Flight Covers 1932 General Umberto Nobile, selection of seven picture postcards from Moscow to Rome, all addressed to his wife Carlotta, one showing the paw imprint of his dog, generally with greetings from "Umberto" message. In addition, there is an earlier picture postcard sent in 1927 from Umberto to Carlotta from Kyoto Japan, plus incoming 1924 card from United States to Umberto and 1960 from Sweden
