 | Lot #1152 ROMANIA Austrian Lloyd Post Office in Kustendje 1868 (6 May) outer FL from Kustendje to Genova, franked with DBSR 20pa black on green (used to pay for the local train service from Kustendje to Czernawoda), used in combination with horizontal pair of Austrian Levant 15 soldi brown, perf. 9 1/2, tied by two well struck "Lloyd Agenze Kustendje 8/5" cds, red "PD" handstamp above, with transit markings of Wien (12.5), Milano Stazione and Partenze (14.5) and Genova arrival (16.5), minor filing fold at bottom, slightly through the lower left corner of 20pa, faint adhesive toning, fine and most attractive Kustendje-Czernawoda letter (DBSR (the Danube and Black Sea Railway) covered a distance of 46 miles between Kustendje, a port on the Black Sea, and Czernawoda on the Danube, forming a link between the mail boats of the Danube Steam Navigation Company at Czernawoda and those of the Austrian Lloyd Company at Kustendje.
