FRANCE 1870-71 Siege of Paris - Par Ballon Monte
1870 (23 Nov) cover endorsed "Par Ballon Monte", with Paris Pl. De La Bourse "5/23 Nov" pmk, addressed to Nantes, with 22 Dec "42" arrival pmk on back, stamp washed off, without backflap and other cover faults, pencil signed. The pilot A. Marcel Martin left Paris on the Balloon "Le Jacquard" on 28th November. The balloon was lost at sea after a flight of 550km. 1871 (27 Jan) folded "Lettre Journal Gazette des Absents" "Par Ballon Monte" from Paris to Bordeaux, carried on "Richard Wallace", stamp washed off, with arrival pmk on back, fine.
