LARGE LOTS AND COLLECTIONS RUSSIA - Covers and Postal History
1805-1927 Postal History of Crimea, collection with 475 covers or cards (19 stated by be unique), arranged alphabetically on pages in 4 three-ring binders. Some of the key items include the oldest known cover and postmark from 1805, Ak Mechet (today Simferopol), the only known case of the old Tatar name in a postmark, prephilatelic postmarks from Sevastopol, Simferopol, Feodosiya, Yevpatoria, Kerch, Alushta and Karasubazar, rare Crimean station postmarks from Belbek, Salyn (the only recorded registered cover from Salyn Railway Station used in 1915 to Petrograd), Sarabuz (1908 picture postcard with 3k franking, sent from Sarabuz railway station to St. Petersburg), 1919 postcard from Novyi-Simez, via Yalta to Sudak, 1915 registered cover from "Stary Krym" to Zurich, 1878-79 "Sudak" postal station cancels on covers to France, etc. There are Also included are 27 maps and 16 books. A fascinating collection, certainly with enough rarities to expand into a competitive exhibit
