United States 1908-09 Issue - Proofs and Essays
1908 unissued "12 Cents", seven imperforate essays, in green yellow, dim violet, violet red, pale yellow green, blue green, pale red and green blue, fine-v.f. (In 1910 the Post Office planned to issue a 12 cent value stamp to cover the Registry and First Class Postage rates. A die was engraved and plates made, but the stamp was never issued. The 12 cents essays were printed in different color inks and on a variety of colored paper),
