1902 50c black, die essay on india, die sunk on card (90x105mm), incomplete engraving of entire design with many lines missing in vignette, frame and portrait, minor small scuffs in India paper at upper right, still v.f., the only known example of the 50c 1902 progressive die essay. There are two progressive die essays of the 50c, the other is offered in the following lot (each is unique) (ex-Cheshire collection, Siegel 2004 sale, $3,750 hammer)
