 | Lot #3322 GERMAN EAST AFRICA Post Offices - postmarks 1895 (14 Aug) 5 Pesa/10pf carmine, tied by a good strike of "Kisaki 14/8/95" cds, addressed to Dr.Pruss in Tabora, redirected to Germany, with Dar-es-Salaam (21/8) transit and Winzig (21.9.95) arrival pmks on back. Kisaki was a small military post on the Kingani River southwest of Dar-es-Salaam. The location was so disease-ridden (malaria, sleeping sickness) that it was closed (15 March 1896) less than a year after it opened (29 April 1895). Owing to the fact that only a few letter-writers were stationed at Kisaki during the 10+ months its post office was open, the Kisaki cancel is the most elusive from German East Africa.
