We are pleased to present our June 18-19, 2024 auction, featuring Part One of the Alfred F. Kugel collection of Postal History of the world, being sold on behalf of the American Philatelic Society. The first of many to follow, this sale is only a sample of the vast amount of material yet to be presented. We begin with United States Dollar values on cover, U.S. States Postal Agencies in the Far East, U.S. International Registration Exchange Labels, U.S. Intervention in Mexico and Registered Mail from U.S. Possessions. There is a splendid selection of the International Intervention in China during the Boxer Rebellion, extensive showing of German Colonies in China and the Pacific, with dozens of rare and unusual items, including unique Tientsin handstamps on 2m and 3m Reichspost. In addition, there are selections of World War I British Occupation of Baghdad, Jordan, Salonika, Mafia Island, Saudi Arabia, plus elusive covers from the Austrian, British, Ottoman, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese Empires.

1901 four covers, each with C.E.F. overprinted adhesives, supplemented by the B.R.A. 5c on 1/2c brown (two with green surcharges), used from Tientsin, Tongku, Tongshan and Peking, fine-v.f. (these overprinted stamps were used by the British Railway Administration in the North China Railway for the collection of the 5c late letter fee. The late fee was abolished after only one month and the stamp was withdrawn)

1901 two covers and C.E.F. stationery entire envelope, Base Office C markings, used together with the B.R.A. Five Cents, various cancels and destinations, mixed condition, fine-v.f. The Postal markings for the third Base Post Office designated as "C" were prepared, with additional markings such as "DEP" (deposit), "DELY" (delivery) and "REG (registered), assigned to the mail cars on the Shanhaikwan-Hanku and Tientsin-Shanhaikwan railway lines. These markings were mostly used in combination with the "B.R.A. 5 Cents" overprinted stamps used to pay the late fee on mail posted from 10 to 60 minutes prior to the departure of trains
