The May 7-8, 2024 Sale of Rare Stamps and Postal History of the World will take place at our Teaneck, N.J. Galleries, via CherrystoneLIVE. There are 1,562 lots, offered in four sessions, beginning with United States, followed by a diverse worldwide holding formed by Dikran Taner. There are solid sections of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Italian States, Switzerland, Turkey, as well as British Commonwealth, featuring John Pedneault's postal history of Ireland, extensive Bermuda, British Africa and various individual rarities. In addition, there are selections of China, with Red Revenues, numerous Flight and Zeppelin covers, rare booklets and more. Finally, the last session is highlighted by Large Lots and Collections, with 184 lots ranging from single country albums, specialized holdings, multi-carton worldwide groups and large cover lots offered intact.

FRANCE French Offices in Egypt
1869 (5 Mar) cover from the French Post Office in Cairo, franked with 20c and 40c Laureated, tied by "5119" numerals and with corresponding "Le Caire Bau Francais" departure pmk alongside, sent via London and Marseille to Ireland, appropriate transit and Derry arrival pmk on back, fine usage from the French Consular Office in Cairo to Ireland (sender was Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Cochrane to his son Ernest. The admiral was probably stationed in the Mediterranean at the time)
