Welcome to our January 9-10 Sale of U.S. and Worldwide Stamps and Postal History. The sale contains 1,508 lots and will be offered in four sessions, beginning with United States and U.S. Possessions. Worldwide sections include France, Germany, Italian Area, with many individual rarities. British Commonwealth, with a further selection of G.R.I. errors and varieties. 1853 (22 July) FL from New York to Tabasco, Mexico, sent via New Orleans, forwarded there August 1st by "J.W. Zacharie & Co." (embossed oval) franked with 4x3c red (overpaid by 2 cents) and continuing on the steamer "Texas" departing August 13th and arriving Veracruz, August 18th, where it was charged 3 reales due for internal postage

1860 (9 Aug) outer FL originating from Paris, France, with oval "Apesteguy & Mairesse" oval, addressed to the U.S. Consul in Vera Cruz, Mexico, sent by unknown means to New Orleans, where it was franked with 3c red (imperf. at right, with vertical gutter lines), tied by 1 September cds, oval "Forwarded by E.J. Forstall" handstamp on back, carried by the schooner "Potomac", with no charges assessed in Mexico, some cover mending at top, little toning at left, otherwise fine and interesting item, with Molesworth's pencil noted on reverse
