Welcome to our January 9-10 Sale of U.S. and Worldwide Stamps and Postal History. The sale contains 1,508 lots and will be offered in four sessions, beginning with United States and U.S. Possessions. Worldwide sections include France, Germany, Italian Area, with many individual rarities. British Commonwealth, with a further selection of G.R.I. errors and varieties. There are solid selections from rest of the world, with additional items from the Carl A. Kilgas and Martin Stempien estates, plus nearly 200 Large Lots and Collections, ranging from single country albums, specialized holdings and featuring a comprehensive collection of British Commonwealth (estimated to realize $100,000), multi-carton worldwide groups and large cover lots offered intact.

1809 (1 Aug) FL from Liverpool to Paris (addressed to a member of Imperial Library), with "Prusse Par Neuss" French entry and backstamped Sept 1 1809 on arrival, manuscript "83" and charged "18" (decimes) due. Also included an 1814 (6 Sep) FL from London to Bolzane, straight-line "Angleterre" origin handstamp and "via Calais" routing at bottom, red ms 1/11 (1 shilling 11 pence postage paid) crossed out by red "48" crayon (48 soldi due), with red "Foreign 22 1814" departure on back, fine pair of Napoleonic covers, the latter carried after the fall of Napoleon, before "100 days"
