Welcome to our January 9-10 Sale of U.S. and Worldwide Stamps and Postal History. The sale contains 1,508 lots and will be offered in four sessions, beginning with United States and U.S. Possessions. 1968 "Great Victory of the Cultural Revolution", upper right sheet corner margin single, prepared but unissued 8f value showing Chairman Mao and Lin Bin Piao before a Victory celebration in the countryside, n.h. and beautiful colors, with a private heart-shaped marginal marking matching the printing ink color, v.f., with 1995 BPA certificate, graded "VF/XF 85" and encapsulated by ASG (Authenticated Stamp Guaranty). This issue is known to have been released early by the post office in Hebei, which sold the stamp before the officially anticipated date of issue. Therefore, prior to the cancelation of this issue, a few examples actually came on the market before the entire supply of stamps was returned to Beijing. One of the rarest stamps of the Cultural Revolution and certainly one of the greatest treasures of world philately (Yang W82, HK $2,362,200) (Scott 999A footnote),
