Our November 7-8, 2023 Sale of Rare Stamps and Postal History of the World will take place at our Teaneck, N.J. Galleries and over the internet via CherrystoneLIVE and StampAuctionNetwork (SAN). The 1,211 lots sale begins with United States and U.S. Possessions. Worldwide sections include a solid collection of Germany and German Colonies, with many individual rarities. British Commonwealth features British Guiana "Cotton Reels" with an unused 12c black, making its first appearance on the market since the 1935 Hind sale; G.R.I. errors and varieties, strong Bushire, specialized Malaysian States and much more. There are strong selections from various European Countries and rest of the world, with additional items from the Carl A. Kilgas and Martin Stempien estates. The auction concludes with 250 Large Lots and Collections, ranging from single country albums, specialized collections, multi-carton worldwide groups and large cover lots offered intact. JAPAN Japanese intervention/Occupation of Siberia Prisoner of War Mail
1920 (10 Aug) cover sent by a German POW in Piervaya Retschka Camp near Vladivostok to USA, framed "Prisonniers de guerre" and "Censored by the Camp Commandant" (in Cyrillic) cachets, addressee not found in New York and the cover was returned back to the Camp and forwarded from there, showing red and violet censor cachets applied by the Japanese, who at this late stage controlled the Prisoner of War Camps jointly with the Bolshevik authorities
