Our November 7-8, 2023 Sale of Rare Stamps and Postal History of the World will take place at our Teaneck, N.J. Galleries and over the internet via CherrystoneLIVE and StampAuctionNetwork (SAN). The 1,211 lots sale begins with United States and U.S. Possessions. Worldwide sections include a solid collection of Germany and German Colonies, with many individual rarities. British Commonwealth features British Guiana "Cotton Reels" with an unused 12c black, making its first appearance on the market since the 1935 Hind sale; G.R.I. errors and varieties, strong Bushire, specialized Malaysian States and much more. There are strong selections from various European Countries and rest of the world, with additional items from the Carl A. Kilgas and Martin Stempien estates. The auction concludes with 250 Large Lots and Collections, ranging from single country albums, specialized collections, multi-carton worldwide groups and large cover lots offered intact.  | Lot #1117 LARGE LOTS AND COLLECTIONS LATVIA 1830-1918 collection of 350+ covers, postal stationery cards and postcards, neatly identified on pages, arranged alphabetically in four albums, pre-philatelic through WWI usages, with variety of types of cancels used for each town and province, 80+ from Riga, with a good showing of different pre-philatelic cancels, etc., balance starting with Astern, Marienburg, (Aluksne), Alsuiki, Asari, Baldon, Bauska, Behen, Bolderaja, etc., showing Russian cancels (descriptions show current Latvian names), better items include two Wenden covers to Laibach, each with local franking and used in combination with Russian franking, registered and censored covers, some military mail ("from Active Army").
