Our September 12-13, 2023 Sale of Rare Stamps and Postal History of the World will take place at our Teaneck, N.J. Galleries and over the internet via CherrystoneLIVE. There are 1,500 lots in the sale, which begins with United States and U.S. Possessions. In the Worldwide section we are pleased to offer Great Britain and British Commonwealth, European Countries and the rest of the world, with exceptional China, including Postal History and additional lots from the Carl A. Kilgas collection. There are further selections from the estate of Dr.Martin Stempien, a specialized collection of Greece and Samos, formed by Dr.Frederick Rogers, and a selection of reference material from Sergio Sismondo's estate, with many fascinating offerings. 1901 1/2c brown surcharged "B.R.A. 5 / Five Cents" inverted, canceled by violet "Field Post Office No.20, May 3,1901" Tientsin pmk on cover, used in combination with India C.E.F. 1/2a, tied by "FPO No.20" cds, addressed to Captain Cooper, 1st Sikhs, Tartar City, Peking, with FPO No.7 (Ancient section of Peking) arrival on back, fine usage of the rare inverted surcharge on cover (SG £2,750 as used off cover)

1901 (31 Dec) Indian 1/2s stationery entire, "F.P.O. No.11" cds, "Nowshera Cantt." handstamp on front, with Tuticorin (25 Jan 02) and Nowshera (31 Jan 02) arrival pmks on back, some backflap mending, fine Boxer Rebellion cover to Nowshera (today a town in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan). Field Post Office No.11 arrived at Wei-Hai-Wei and was sent from there to Taku and Sinho
