Our August 22, 2023 United States auction features the Gerald Nylander Collection of Washington-Franklins, with an emphasis on Proofs, Essays, errors and varieties. Many of the items in this collection are unique and are the basis of some of the illustrations in Scott Specialized Catalogue. Gerald was a consummate stamp collector, contributor to the Scott Catalogue, author of many articles and frequent exhibitor (Essays, Trial Colors and Proofs 1908-1917; Postal Rates, Foreign Destinations and others). His collection also includes U.S. Banknotes and Currency. He was a member of the Collectors Club of Chicago and many other philatelic societies. 1908-22 Registered Mail usage during "The Washington-Franklin Period", exhibit on 31 pages, 40+ covers or cards, also coverfront paying $3.74 with a strip of 3x$1 perf. 10 and additional franking, variety of rates and destinations, including Germany, France, Switzerland, Norway, Cyprus, Ukraine, Liechtenstein, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Italy and Australia. Also included is a registered cover from Hawaii, bank tags, registered cover with blocks of four of Kansas City roulettes, letter franked with 12c and registered from Christiansted, Saint Croix, Virgin Islands, two registered covers from Shanghai, with 12c and 15c unsurcharged franking, etc.
