 | Lot #1582 BRITISH COMMONWEALTH INDIA Flight Covers 1928 (4 Oct) Calcutta to Rangoon, intended for 3rd Dutch Air Mail, cacheted cover franked with 1a George V, with bi-plane "Calcutta-Rangoon" and "By Dutch Airplane" below, plus "3rd Official Mail" and boxed violet "3rd Plane Crashed at Cawnpore Carried by 4th Official Mail Plane H.N.A.O.F.", repeated on back where it is also signed by Stephen H Smith. The cover was intended for the 3rd flight but due to the Cawnpore crash was carried on the 4th flight arriving on 11 October 1928, two hinge remnants on back, v.f., only 87 covers (and 56 cards) carried, ex-Zvi Aloni  | Price Realized $150.00 |
