BRITISH COMMONWEALTH AUSTRALIA Flight Covers
1932 (12 Dec) Australia-England, flight by Hans Bertram, cover with 2p and 6p O.S., tied by Darwin N.T. pmks and addressed to Melbourne, with Bertram Atlantis Expedition cachet, little toning, with London (8 Dec 37) and Melbourne (23 Dec 37) arrival markings on back, accompanied by a letter from Postmaster-General of Australia explaining the "lost letter." (Hans Bertram left Darwin for his return flight to Germany on 12th December, 1932. He crashed at Surabaya (Netherlands Indies) and reached Berlin on 17th April, 1933. Among the mail carried, were letters for delivery to Melbourne, which were found five years later at Berlin G.P.O.)
