BELGIUM BELGIAN POST OFFICE IN CHINA
1907 "Chine" 1c on 2c, 2c on 5c, 4c on 10c and 10c on 25c, type I ("Chine 11mm long) and type II ("Chine" 10mm long, thicker letters and numbers), all handstamped "Specimen" (two different types, one larger), the "set" of eight, h.r., some minor gum toning, 4c on 10c creased, otherwise fresh, fine-v.f., each stamp with a 2023 Pierre Kaiser certificate (King Leopold II of Belgium approved a Belgian Post Office in China and Belgian stamps surcharged and overprinted "Chine" were sent to the Belgian Consul in Shanghai. Chinese Postmaster General, T. Pitry, a Frenchman, curtly rejected the idea. The surcharged stamps were returned to Belgium and destroyed. Only 5-6 sets survived).
