Lot #8764
ITALY
1928 Emanuele Filiberto 30c green & brown, center inverted, unused with full original gum, lightly hinged (if at all, the stamp actually looks n.h.), usual centering, fine example of this incredible rarity. Only one sheet of these inverts was sold at the post office in Bologna. The buyer did not notice the error and placed the majority of the stamps on a large parcel. Most of the stamps were thus used. Of the few unused examples known, only two (!) exist with full original gum (see footnote in Sassone where the price is listed for one of the two values with gum), signed Diena, Raybaudi, etc., with 2004 Raybaudi and 2006 Diena certificates, the latter stating "gomma Integra") (Sass. 228a, €240,000)
