1863 1 piastre black on pale gray blue, on thick surfaced colored paper with red control band, third printing (Mi.2/IIIyb, SG 6), showing "Broken Toughra" variety, tied by "battal" mute lattice of dots handstamp in black on registered cover (backflaps missing) from Constantinople, addressed to the 2nd Imperial Army in Shumnu (Bulgaria). The envelope has been refolded and may have been additionally franked at right. A fine and possibly unique example of the Broken Toughra variety on cover, with 2013 Gregory Todd certificate (illustrated in Mehmet Basaran's "Cover Story" on page 131)

1876 1 piastre yellow, perf. 13 1/2, no less than 55 examples (!), some defective (especially strip of ten cut on top), used on both sides of a large cover from Yenishehir / Larissa to Constantinople, all canceled by circular "Larissa" postmarks in blue (Coles & Walker fig.2), further canceled by manuscript, showing "Stamboul" cds on arrival, also 1876 City Post 1pi yellow applied on back, tied by Baghtche Capussi oval datestamp (1 July 76) to defray local delivery charge, impressive cover and franking, with 2015 Greg Todd certificate
