1807 Napoleon I, lettersheet addressed to General Clarke ("vous donnerez ordre que le corps de gardes nationales qui est a Cherbourg soit renforce de 500 hommes du corps des gardes nationales qui est au Havre, a Dieppe et sur la cote. Vous donnerez egalment l'ordre que le 3eme batailon du 15e de ligne, le 3eme batailon du 70e, 3eme batailon di 86e et le 3e batailon du 47e formes chacun a six compagnies, une de grenadiers, une de votiguers et 4 basses compagnies a un efectif de 140 hommes et au moins a 110 hommes presens par compagnie, se tiennent prets a marcher. Vous ferez passer la revue de ces batailons par le general Malher, et du moment que leur armement, leur habilement seront en etat, vous m'en rendre compte") ("You will order that the body of national guards which is in Cherbourg be strengthened by 500 men of the body of the National Guards who are in Le Havre, Dieppe and on the coast.
