Napoleon revolutionized military organization and training, sponsored the Napoleonic Code, reorganized education and established the long-lived Concordat with the papacy. A two-page letter, date-lined St.Cloude, 11 June, 1811 addressed to Duc de Feltre, Ministre de la Guerre (Henri-Jacques-Guillaume Clarke, Duke of Feltre, born to Irish parents from Lisdowney, Co. Kilkenny, in Landrecies, was a politician and Marshal of France. Clarke was one of the most influential and charismatic Franco-Irish generals in the French army during the Napoleonic period.
