RUSSIA Russia Used in Asia
1900 (11 July) 3k stationery card uprated with 1k orange, sent from Bayan-Aul (Semipalatinsk Territory) to London, postmarked in BayanAul, with transit markings of Pavlodar (12.7) and Moscow (22.7 and 24.7), arriving in London on 9th August, 1900. A fine card, sent by Heyman Orkin (1872-1945), a Russian-born Englishman in the mining business. The message reads "Arrived today from Pavlodar and am leaving at once further south. I have still 90 miles to my place of destination. On my way I have visited many copper and silver mines and have already a very clear idea about ores and mining in this place. Everything speaks most favorably" (Bayanaul, Pavlodar Province is a village in Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan)
