RUSSIA Russia Used in Asia
1854 10k stationery entire envelope with indicia on back, canceled by pen and sent from Kyakhta to St. Petersburg, with framed "Kyakhta 16 Nov 1854" departure and "Polucheno 20 Dec" St. Petersburg arrival pmks on back. This cover is described in Thilingirian "Stamps of the Russian Empire Used Abroad", on page 567 (at the time "earliest item reported so far from Kyakhta"), sent by a Russian trader residing in Kyakhta to an instructor at the St. Anna School which educated many prominent Russians, including Faberge (Kyakhta is a town located on the Kyakhta River near the Mongolia-Russia border. The town stands directly opposite the Mongolian border town of Altanbulag). A wonderful rarity, one of only five (!) recorded postal items from Kyachta
