GREAT BRITAIN British Intervention in North Russia
1919 (8 Dec) picture postcard sent by a British sailor in Sevastopol to Hessenford, England, inscribed "On Active Service", with "RECEIVED FROM H. M. SHIP/NO CHARGE TO BE RAISED" handstamp and London transit datestamp. The message, dated Monday 8th, reads "What do you think of this place? This is Sebastopol." The Royal Navy's Mediterranean Fleet used Sevastopol as an operational base during its intervention in the Russian civil war. The photograph shows Sevastopol's southern bay
