This sale contains 1,353 lots of Rare Stamps and Postal History of the World, with United States and European countries, including Austria, France and Colonies, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain, and others. Great Britain and British Commonwealth are well represented, covering all Reigns with many high values and sets from Aden to Zanzibar. Also featured is a collection of Imperial China, with Dowagers and extensive Red Revenues which include small 4c and inverted 2c and $5 overprints. This section is followed by solid selection from Republic of China (Taiwan) and PRC souvenir sheets. From Egypt (Kingdom), there is a fine showing of used and unused sets and postal history. This auction concludes with a strong selection of 250 large lots and collections ranging from single country albums to specialized collections (Postal History of Louisiana, British Commonwealth) and multi-carton worldwide properties and large cover lots.

FRANCE
1849 1fr dull orange red (vermilion) on yellowish paper, unused with original gum, l.h., full to mostly large margins on all four sides, nice color and bright shade, v.f. example of the rarest stamp of the First Issue of France (the 1849 1 Franc stamp comes in two basic shades, Vermilion (Scott No. 8) and Carmine (No. 9), with each having several sub-shades. This Dull Orange Red shade is from the Vermilion group, which is far rarer than the Carmine. In fact, this is one of the key rarities for someone trying to collect France in unused condition). A beautiful stamp, signed Roger Calves, Lemarre, and others, also Brun, with his 2018 certificate (YT 7, Euro 125,000)
