Lot #8200
United States 1917-29 Issues
1917 2c deep rose, Ty. Ia, Imperforate, with Schermack perfs clearly visible at left, neat wavy lines machine cancel, characteristic rich color, faint corner crease at top left, fine example of this rarity, of which only 40 (!) copies recorded (Scott 482A was issued imperforate by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and sold to the Schermack Company for use in its patented stamp affixing machines, which typically applied stamps one at a time, so in most cases, the hyphen-hole perfs on one side would be cut off. Most surviving examples are either cut well into the design or have the Schermack perfs trimmed away on one side). An important 20th Century U.S. rarity, with 1977 and 2017 PFCs,
