Great Britain and British Commonwealth are well represented with many high values and sets covering all reigns from Aden to Zanzibar. This sale concludes with a good selection of large lots and collections, which range from single country albums to a specialized collections and multi-carton worldwide stocks and cover lots.

This is a public auction, with live Internet bidding (via CherrystoneLIVE at cherrystoneauctions.com). Our usual catalogues have not been printed for this sale, due to completely unreliable postal service (we hope to resume printing catalogues for the future auctions)

BRITISH COMMONWEALTH INDIA Rocket Mail
1937 Feb 1-7 All-India Scouts Jamboree Rocket Mail, proof sheet in black, v.f., signed and dated by Stephen J. Smith, v.f. (Stephen Smith, was a pioneering Indian aerospace engineer who developed techniques in delivering mail by rocket. Unlike Friedrich Schmiedl, whom the Austrian Authorities banned from further experimenting, Smith was encouraged in his experiments by Indian Officials. In the ten-year span of his experiments (1934-1944), Smith made some 270 launches, including at least 80 rocket mail flights)
