CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA Prisoner of War & Flag of Truce covers
1863 cover addressed to Lt. Robert, Prisoner of War, "Johnsons Island, Near Sandusky, Ohio", sent from Grognasville NC, with Old Point Comfort, VA transit, franked with two 5c Confederate adhesive and defective 3c USA stamp, further endorsed "Via Flag of Truce City Point", scarce South to North POW cover (U.S. rules called for the removal of the "Rebels" when mail entered the U.S. postal system), overall ageing and cover creases, with extensive Molesworth write-up in pencil, CSA certificate (Johnson's Island was a Union prison for Confederate officers during the American Civil War. It was located in Sandusky Bay of Lake Erie, near Sandusky, Ohio)
