We are pleased to present our April 22, 2020 sale of United States Stamps and Postal History, featuring the collection of Richard Carl. With 740 lots, we have nice sections of Stampless Covers, Free Franks and Autographed letters, Postmasters' Provisionals, an excellent range of imperf. Classics and other 19th Century used and unused, including Fancy Cancels, Civil War Patriotics, Territorial covers, 20th Century with Regular Issues and Commemoratives to $5, Large Die Proofs, Modern Errors and varieties. 1869 30c ultramarine & carmine, horizontal block of 12, reasonably canceled by black grids, excellent colors and well centered for a large multiple, minor ironed out creases and wrinkles noted. The largest recorded unused multiple is a block of six, the largest recorded used multiple is a block of twelve, of which three or four are known. A wonderful large used multiple of the 30c 1869 Pictorial, no doubt on a heavy parcel and virtually all large multiples of this issue are faulty to some extent (catalogued as two blocks of four and two pairs)
