| Lot #1266 POLAND 1944 unissued Gorale Series 1944 Gorale, unissued set of three, n.h., v.f. (these stamps were supposed to the first of a 10-17 stamp series depicting the Land and People of the area, and intended to replace the prior Hitler definitives. However, with the fall of the Generalgouvernement to the Red Army, the designs of all stamps were never completed, and those already printed were not issued. This series is popularly referred to as the "Gorale" (highlanders), after the Goral couple in the 24gr design.
