Fred Blau LARGE LOTS AND COLLECTIONS ISRAEL Flight Covers
1948-80 the Fred Blau collection of many hundreds of covers or cards expertly written-up on pages, housed in three cartons, numerous first flights to and from Israel, early International flights with "Service Suspended" handstamps, May 16, 1948 cover from Tel Aviv to Shanghai, China, Palestine Emergency Deliveries Inc. "Cancelled" May 21 and June 3 covers via the Czechoslovak Airlines, Aeroflot Nov 12, 48 cover from Kharkov to Tel Aviv, others to Colombia, France, South Africa, Sweden (only 10 known), Cuba, Venezuela, many with Doar Ivri franking, few with censor labels, also 1949 special flight from Vienna to Tel Aviv (transferring Theodor Herzl's remains to Israel, only a few letters carried on this flight), 1950 final flight of the operation "Magic Carpet", Army Postal Service and Air Force vouchers, crash covers (including partially burned card from Amsterdam to Haifa, shot down over Bulgaria, July 27, 1955; card from Feb 22, 1970 Zurich to Lydda flight, aircraft destroyed by a time bomb placed in the luggage compartment by the PLO), plus many other fascinating items.
