James R. Simon Collection

The James R. Simon collection is comprised of over 600 volumes, well researched by a historian and student of philately of very diverse areas, starting with Afghanistan and Albania, continuing with extensive Austro-Hungarian Empire, impressive Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro and Yugoslavia, as well as Croatia, Fiume and Trieste. There are specialized collections of Honduras, Liberia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia and many others. Most of the collections are offered intact and include United States & Possessions, Independent Asia, Benelux and British Commonwealth, Canada, Croatia, Cuba, Germany, Greece, Italy and Italian Colonies, as well as South and Central America, Japan, Korea, Portugal and Colonies, Turkey, Uruguay and many others. Many of the collections are highly specialized and viewing is recommended, either in person (by appointment prior to the sale) or here on our website, where additional scans are added continuously.

LARGE LOTS AND COLLECTIONS GREECE
1861-1979 collection on pages, all stamps in mounts in three 8 1/2x11 binders, neatly written-up, with 1,000+ large Hermes Heads, all values represented, some unused, mostly used, assembled for printings and shades, mixed quality with many faults noted (excellent for study), continuing with used and unused Small Hermes imperf. and perf., few multiples and varieties (two with Vlastos certificates), surcharges, including on the Olympics issue, unused from 1906 Olympics complete (Scott 184-97), various Revolutionary overprints, Landscapes and Centenary sets, apparently complete from 1940, many n.h., with Air Post, Postage Dues, impressive back of the book, including Occupation and Annexation stamps from Dedeagatch, also French and Italian stamps overprinted for various Aegean Islands, with better items, Rhodes, Air Post, Zeppelin, British Military Administration (M.E.F.) overprints, Thessaly and Salonika, Thrace, Ionian Islands, Corfu (Serbian Post WWI usages), Cephalonia under Italian Occupation (many pairs, few better), nearly complete Crete, few sets from Samos, etc. In addition, there are some more recent year sets. Overall a splendid collection of Greece, missing only the rarities, generally fine-v.f.
