GREAT BRITAIN British Intervention in North Russia
1919 (25 July) YMCA corner cachet cover to Kent, with fine strike of the "Field Post Office PB 14", also "Passed by Censor" covered by "P.W. 861 Opened by Censor" seal, fine usage. The P.B. 14 handstamp was assigned to the Sadleir-Jackson's brigade (a motley collection of units from the British Army, the Royal Navy, Australian volunteers, French and US troops and White Russians. This force was intended to hold the ports of Arkhangelsk and Murmansk open for Allied cargo ships supplying the White Russian armies fighting in the region as part of the Allied intervention in the Russian Civil War). At the time of this letter's posting, the brigade was located at Yakolevskoye
