 | Lot #364 GERMANY 1901 3pf surcharge on left half of 5pf green, two copies, tied by a single "Kais. Deutsche Marine Schiffspost No.1 17/4/01" pmk on picture postcard (native huts) from Pernambuco, Brazil to Stuttgart, with arrival pmk at lower left, v.f. A rare example of a double "Vineta", actually used from Pernambuco, signed Kohler and Richter, with 1999 Jakubek and 2000 APS certificates. In 1901 the S.M. Cruiser "Vineta" made a goodwill tour to the West Indies and South America. The ship happened to be in port at New Orleans at the time of the Kaiser's Birthday. The celebrations of the crew were given special coverage in the newspapers, but the ship sailed before a supply was delivered to the crew. These newspapers caught up with the ship in Port of Spain, Trinidad and the crew wanted to send copies of the newspapers back home.
