1871 10c blue, just tied by "1" duplex cancel on complete FL dated August 10, 1871, addressed to Lanman & Kemp in New York, with "N.Y. Steamship Aug 31 / 10" arrival below, corresponding departure and arrival docketing on back, filing fold and other defects through the stamp, additional franking (probably 2x1c ocher) missing, nevertheless fine appearing and possibly the earliest usage recorded of the 1871 Issue on cover (Goodman "Guatemala" illustrated the earliest cover dated October 10, 1871) ( Lanman & Kemp was a multi-generational family firm of wholesale druggists in New York City. Their records document the operations of the wholesale drug business in the years before the development of modern pharmaceuticals)
